USB cable: Communication between peripheral device and computer

USB or better known as Universal Serial Bus and this USB cable is used to establish communication between a computer and peripheral devices. USB cable is intended to replace or remove many varieties of serial and parallel ports. USB cable have the potentiality to connect computer peripherals like that of mice, keyboards, PDAs, game pads and joysticks, digital cameras, printers, scanners,  personal media players, flash drives, and of course external hard drives. For many of these devices, USB cable has been considered as the standard connection method. USB cable are designed for personal computers also, but it is been widely used in other devices such as PDAs and video game consoles, and sometimes used  as a power cord between a device and an AC adapter, which is plugged into a wall plug for charging. According to an estimate in 2009 there are about 6.5 billion USB devices which must includes USB cables have been sold till date.
USB cables are used to establish connections for storage devices, whose standard has been set by a level which is known as USB mass storage device class. Initially, USB cables are intended to be used for traditional magnetic and optical drives, but later it has been extended to support a wide variety of devices, particularly flash drives. USB cable can not be considered as primary bus for a computer’s internal storage.  One of the most important advantages of USB cable is that it is possible to install and remove the devices without opening the entire computer case.
