Lithium batteries are nothing but disposable one which has lithium metal or a lithium based compound which acts as anode. These batteries are often confused with ion batteries. In a normal lithium battery a metallic lithium and manganese dioxide is used as anode and cathode. In between them is a separator of lithium salt which acts as a solvent. Current will flow through the anode and then go out through cathode the battery power will be generated with chemical reaction of the two. The batteries are safe to use. The lithium battery is highly a reactive alkali and will react when it is left open. Lithium is highly inflammable and if already burned it will make it worse. For the ones who uses laptops, camcorders or anything which requires battery, then the life of the battery is very important. It is also essential as in how long it will take to replace it. a normal disposable battery will lose up to 20 percent of their normal charge every year and the percent will be more if it is stored in high temperature. So when it comes to buying a battery do not just like that buy one, check the manufacture date so that the battery type before choosing one.
They also have more self discharge rate and Lithium batteries have high amount of life cycle when compared to normal ones. Lithium batteries can even perform at temperatures as low as zero. So buy the best lithium batteries and get going for a longer time.
